On FreePascal the following insctruction:

  Writeln(arctan(2),arctan2(2,1),arctan2(1,2));

Yields:

1.1071487177940905E+0000 1.1071487177940905E+0000
4.6364760900080612E-0001

I believe this is in contradiction with the docomentation where it is said that

arctan2(x,y) calculates atan(y/x)

It would be OK if the documentation stated

arctan2(y,x) calculates atan(y/x)
^^^
Since I am not receiving any messages from the FPC mailing list, and I know that some developpers of FPC read this newsgroup, I am posting it here.

By the way: I find Free Pascal great!!

P.S. I've posted this earlier to comp.lang.pascal.misc, because I was having problems with this mailing list. But this is the right place to post, so, there you have it!

I use the compiler fpc-1.0.4 and the ide fpe-1.35. The graphic card is Voodoo3 3000 with 16MB.
The proccessor is Pentium III 450MHz and I have 256MB of RAM. The OS is W2K sp2.

The problem:
When I compile with the unit Graph and with the target win32, the resolution that I obtain is gd=15 (8 bits color) and gm=m800x600 (the max resolution that accept directly, by assigned to gm).

It´s extrange because the target is Go32V2 the graphic state that I get with DetectGraph is the same that I set in W2K through properties. But with the target win32 the gd is always 15 but gm is (I know it because I use getmaxx and getmaxy) almost the real (actual). For example, if the resolution is 1152x864, 'getmaxx'x'getmaxy' is 1151x838. But not accept that the gm>m800x600.

Extrange or normal?.
Can anybody help me?.
Thanks.

While I am eagerly awaiting the compiler manual, I could also use a good text for intermediate/advanced programmers that gives a comprehensive look at the Pascal language including Object Pascal. (my instruction in highschool on XTs did not include object orrientation. =P).

I went to the website and looked at lists provided by several of the linked sites. However, I really can't afford to gamble with my last $50. =\

I intend to use this book as an accompanyment to the FreePascal refferance manual.

I really need to understand the language and "RTL" (runtime library, not Register Transfer Language! =P) because I need to create a mutant compiler for my own diabolical ends. MWAHAHA

Waiting for a typical DOS application to crash is like waiting for hell to freeze over. http://users.erols.com/alangrimes/ <my website.

I think at least it is already available via cvs as tex source, no?

Did you try a search engine? Google found some usefull links:

This second link was superb. There was some great stuff there... Unfortunately, some of the links were dead and now, inexplicably, I can't even get nameservice on it anymore!!! Heck, half the links from ftp.cdrom.com/pub/ (including the bug report address) are dead. =( Coming back today finds only 1 link for 4 that were present yesterday and still no access to /pub/simtelnet/ which is still there...

This is profoundly frustrating.
While I wouldn't think any of you have anything to do with this, I am so frustrated that I really need to post this...

WTF IS WRONG WITH THE FLAMING INTERNET??!??!?!?!?!?!?

By the way, I grabbed a copy of PicoProlog and it compiled perfectly with FreePascal. =) only 96k for a 32 bit binary, the orrigional 16 bit binary was 45k. =P
