Hi list,

I'm not sure if you can receive my email because I havn't subscribed(and I don't want to do that)

I'm packaging qt4pas for Fedora. I've found a qt4.pas file in the tarball of qt4pas, can anyone tell me where should I put it?

Should I put it into

/usr/share/qt4pas/qt4.pas

Or

/usr/share/fpcsrc/packages/qt4/qt4.pas?

Thanks.

Yours sincerely,
Christopher Meng

qt4.pas is source file and it goes into lazarus widgeset directory (lazarus/lcl/interfaces/qt). There's no need to pack it into libQt4Pas package afaik.

Thanks for your late reply, I've packaged it into Fedora since Aug. I didn't include that file.

Sorry for being late, but I was on vacations :)

I reviewed the moderation requests only this morning. That explains the delay.

I think the typical way Fedora way of doing this is having a package for the library.so.version.version and another package, the devel package, for the header (i.e. qt4.pas) and the library.so

the location could be an include dir like
/usr/include/qt4pas/qt4.pas

look at the content of gtkada and gtkada-devel
(disregard the *.ali stuff)

thank you for the packaging effort.
I really appreciate this.

Jan

Yeah I know, but the problem is that Fedora packages collection doesn't have people interested in pascal. And we still don't have packaging guideline for pascal. So I don't know where is the proper location.

I'm also not a Pascal developer, so I'm not sure, too.

You're welcome. I was packaging doublecmd when I found that Fedora even doesn't have qt4pas library...

Of course there are many languages in the world. :) -------------- next part --------------

Hi!
Just FYI, when creating the Debian package some time in the past, I stored that file in the development package as
/usr/share/pascal/qt4/qt4.pas
which makes some sense, although the FPC compiler AFAIK doesn't search this path (but I can still be included or the file can be used as reference for developers).
Cheers,
Matthias

that was fine, debian packages differently than Fedora eg. gtkada use /usr/share/ada/adainclude/gtkada/gtkada.ads so what you did was similar.

You too, thx for the effort, since the package is in Debian, the binding has been picked up by more distributions.

Jan
