Hello-

First of all, great work on the progress with the QT widgetset. I am using it with my 32-bit Linux applications. I would also like to distribute this with my open source 64-bit applications.

I installed QT in the same manner as the 32-bit Linux, using the wiki and the distribution from http://users.pandora.be/Jan.Van.hijfte/qtforfpc/fpcqt4.html Lazarus built the LCL for QT without complaint.

However, when I attempt to build my application using

lazbuild ./mricron.lpr --ws=qt

I get the following error
Linking mricron
/usr/bin/ld: skipping incompatible /usr/local/lib/libqt4intf.so when searching for -lqt4intf /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lqt4intf

I next tried to compile the source for 64-bit, using the instructions from the WIki on my OpenSUSE x86_64 10.3 system, but was unsucessful. http://wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/Qt_Interface#Compiling_the_bindings

./configure make

bash: ./configure: No such file or directory
./compile_lib.bash
bash: ./compile_lib.bash: /bin/env: bad interpreter: No such file or directory

Is it possible that the qt bindings website could also distribute 64-bit code?

sorry, I do not have a 64bit distro on any PC for the moment.

Did you try compiling one yourself ?
The compile script just needs access to qt libs and qt devel headers

Hello-

I finally compiled the 64-bit version by hard coding the paths. I am placing the compiled library on my web site: http://www.mricro.com/libqt4intf64.zip
I think this download should be added to the
http://users.pandora.be/Jan.Van.hijfte/qtforfpc/fpcqt4.html The file includes the 64-bit binary for the X11 (V1.62) version

This version allowed me to create 64-bit Lazarus applications using the QT widgetset. There appear to be a few issues with the 64-bit QT graphics (e.g. bitmaps do not display correctly) and I will report these to the standard Lazarus bug tracking.

And who will fix them? I dont have 64 bit os but mayve Zeljan or Felipe have.

Best regards,
Paul Ishenin.

I also don't have 64 bits hardware.

Hello all-

That is unfortunate. By the way, if you have a 64-bit capable CPU (e.g. Core2Duo or 64-bit AMD) you can run 64-bit guest operating systems using VMware from a 32-bit operating system. For example, I run Centos5-x64 as a guest on WindowsXP 32. However, with Core2Duo systems you need to enable VTx - which you can usually do in the bios. Here is a web site with 64-bit VMware player appliances... http://dev.centos.org/~tru/vmware/centos-5.20080523/

Thanks for your input.

I have been using x86_64 bindings for the last 6 months or so with lazarus.

I had no problems building the bindings. It sounds like you built against the host installed Qt not a source build?

if it helps, here is what I use for x86_64 and i686 builds with no changes...

you need to get qt-embedded-linux-opensource-src-4.4.0.tar.gz from trolltechs website (or whatever version you wish to use)

extract to ~/ or wherever and build qt-x11-opensource-src-4.4.0

cd ~/qt-x11-opensource-src-4.4.0/
./configure
gmake

then compile script...
--------------------------------------------------- #!/bin/env bash
export QT4=~/qt-x11-opensource-src-4.4.0
export QT4I=$QT4/include
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$QT4/lib
if [ -e "$LD_LIBRARY_PATH/libQtCore.so.4" ]
then
g++ -D BINUX -I. -I$QT4I -I$QT4I/Qt -I$QT4I/QtGui -I$QT4I/QtCore -Iqlcl qtpas.cpp -o libqt4intf.so -shared -fPIC -dPIC -L$QT4/lib -lQtCore -lQtGui -Xlinker "-soname=libqt4intf.so"
strip --strip-all libqt4intf.so
else
echo "Please Modify location of Qt4 in this script" fi
------------------------------------------------------

Re (x86_64) bugs - there are many ;) biggest problem is constant crashing of ide compiled with Qt due to tooltips. I kinda know why. One day I will look at this - for now I turn them off.

I have only been using Lazarus/Qt x86_64 to create the gui and program for then cross-compiling to arm so I havnt seen any issues with bitmaps etc cos up until yesterday there was problems with graphic components on arm.

Post here if you have specific issues with x86_64 and we will see if we can help each other.

regards

Terry

?
ermm, that should have read qt-x11-opensource-src-4.4.0.tar.gz

and if by bitmaps not displayed properly you are referring to the component palette icons only showing the top half... this had me annoyed for weeks, until I dragged the bottom of the IDE Menu window down a little and all was revealed :)
seems the default height is a little small on x86_64. you can set this up in Environment-Environment Options-Window-Main Menu.
