OK. I'm about stumped. I want to make a current Win32 install of the compiler to have available for download from the Lazarus site. I have a 1.0.6 release version of the compiler installed. I also have a complete checkout of the 1.0.x branch from CVS. The 1.0.6 version is located in the default c:\pp directory. The CVS checked out source is located in a c:\fpc tree.

I can do a make clean and make all and it builds a new ppc386.exe just fine. No problems. However, if I try to do make install or make win32zip or make zipinstall it always fails. Even if I have done a make all the above make calls always try to rebuild the ppc386.exe file. However, at some point in the make process it throws away the new ppc386.exe and then at another point when it tries to use the new .exe, the make fails with a file not found.

I have tried all sorts of relocating of files and directories to see if I have something setup stupid but I am stumped. What am I doing wrong? This all use to work fine when I use to do it.

Can someone help me out here? Again I want to be able to make a complete package of fpc 1.0.7 for download from the Lazarus site.

It's working ok for me to generate the v10 snapshots, tho' I always start with a v1.0.7 compiler...Try downloading one of these basew32.zip from .../snapshot/v10/win32/...& start with it- but always send the logs when you have a problem...Regards

I didn't send the logs until someone asked for them. :-)

Anyway I have been in communication with Peter on this. It appears that the gecho call to make the build-stamp.win32 file does not work. It makes the call as can been seen in the log dump but it never creates the file. If I manually run the gecho command it works and makes the file.

At this point the zipinstall would at least attempt to work. Peter did make a fix to the makefile so this would run.

However, it still fails because it also requires gecho output in creating fpczip.bat. It does not create this file so the build stops when it tries to run the fpczip.bat file it was suppose to generate.

Does anyone have a clue why the gecho command won't run? By the way this is on a Win98SE machine.

I also have a strange problem with making on a win me machine (previously reported but not fixed)...If I do a make echotime from command line it works ok, but not in batch! Guess it has to be a make fault?

Is this related? Can the makeechotime be removed?
