Hi,

I just found some QNX libraries in RTL source. When do you plan to release FPC for QNX? Can someone tell me if it's possible to test the compiler for this platform?

Hi, I just found some QNX libraries in RTL source. When do you plan to release FPC for QNX? Can someone tell me if it's possible to test the compiler

for

this platform?

Greetings,
I am almost finished porting QNX to FPC.. and i wish to release it
for version 1.0.6 ... i have a big problem though, i can't install the GNU stuff, because i always get a CRC error in gzip, and because of that i can't debug anything :(... Currently, the application aborts saying 'missing shared library' ... I'd like to test it with static linking if it works better...

Kanzelsberger Pavel

Great news, keep up good work! Anyway if you need betatesting I can do a huge test for you trying to compile Pixel32 :-)

Try channel #qnx on irc.qnxstart.com
QNX employees, developers and users frequent there and can give quite good info. Personally I have tried a few times to compile gnu pascal, which should compile on any platform where gcc compiles(which includes QNX), but I never succeeded.

QNX lacks any decent language besides the regular c(++).

I`m a bit lost what the new release is. According to the news 1.0.6 will be released soon , but that was Sept. 2001. The CVS snapshots etc seem a bit messy, that is it`s not clear what version they are, except for the 1.1 one which I guess isn`t very stable.

I vaguely recall a release email, about 1.0.6 being out. But the site doesn`t reflect this. At the ftp site in the directory containing the CVS snapshots I do see some snapshots of 1.0.6 but the linux one still seems to be 1.0.4.

Could anyone clear these matters up?

The mail was about 1.0.6 beta 1. It's only downloadable straight from the ftp site until it's officially released.

Could anyone clear these matters up?

The 1.0.6 release version for almost all supported platforms has been uploaded to the ftp site the last couple of days. I hope the announcement will be made this weekend, maybe Monday the latest (and then the web pages will be updated as well).

Yeah, I'm already using 1.0.6 for Win32, BeOS and Linux, but is it possible to upload also some binary preview of QNX version? Or how can I build it in QNX?

Well, only messy as in that it wasn`t clear to me if and where to find, for example, a linux 1.0.6 snapshot. But I see that`s been made clear now.

Thanks

Not sure why you say CVS snapshots are messy...or exactly what you mean. On ftp site & mirrors /fpc/snapshot/v10 you'll find all of the 1.0.6 snapshots. They'll be marked v1.0.5 or v1.0.6 beta which seems to me to be pretty clear. For some o/s they are updated every day... so the ones from week or so ago are v close to the 1.0.6 release...If you'd tried one of the comp;ilers you'd find they are clearly marked with date and v1.0.5 or v1.0.6 beta...

btw the previous email said that a pre release v1.0.6 was available - the fpc team try to ensure as few problems as possible with releases- the real v1.0.6 is mostly in /fpc/dist now and will be officially released this w/e or during next week at the latest. For QNX it'll be a beta release - I've just seen a email from Carl suggesting it's more or less ready...

I am trying to figure out a way to get the 1.06 Win32 installation to also compile Linux binaries. I've downloaded the compiled units from the Linux package and put them in the correct directories, and I also have the source installed.

I'm trying to compile a hello world program and it cannot find as.exe. I've done some web searching and found nothing. Is this possible? If so, where can I find as.exe? I looked around in the docs and didn't see anything mentioned about compiling for other platforms. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Apart from suitable units for the other platform you need also a cross -assembler and a cross-linker - look for the binutils tools package.

Hope that helps,

I was able to find the binutils package and get it installed. The compiler can now find AS.EXE but it still gives a bunch of errors and will not compile. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong but once again would appreciate any input on this! For anyone else, I'm trying to get FPC 1.06 to compile Linux binaries under Windows XP...

Thanks for any help. Below is the results of compiling test.pas, a simple 'hello world' program using "fpc -Aas -Tlinux test.pas"
