Possibly do a CTRL-R replace God with:

1. science
2. mathematics
3. reason
4. physics
5. computing science
6. Programmers above us, Like the Thirteenth Floor Movie
7. evolution

**SPOILER ALERT**

Problems with above replacements for God. Discussion follows:

Number 6 is a big issue because in the movie The Thirteenth Floor, the programmers (Gods) above the characters in the video game of life, were not actually good gods, but criminals and rather violent voyeuristic.

Hold on, Cancel this email - I spoiled the movie.. Okay now I will inject spoiler alert at the top of this email/discussion. **

The other replacements for GOD are troublesome. Evolution (7) is basically a bunch of animals running around killing each other for food, murdering each other - so IOW biologically cannot help us much. (Neil Degrasse Tyson STUPID DESIGN video, please look up).

The other numbered items... Sorry I have A.D.D. and have lost interest in this email now, won't discuss all them. On to reading more fpc emails in fpc-pascal. Sent this to fpc-other as it discusses an idiot (god) who I once strangely believed in as a Catholic, but then realized it was just a bunch of looney bins going to church worshipping a mostly nude guy in diapers on a cross, a sort of death cult. At least the crackers in church at the end of mass were kind of tasty, but stale.

They guy created C#, not such a great language IMO,

I'm not certain Anders H is actually who really made delphi what it is...

I think borland did it together and too much respect is given to Anders.

Think of it this way: Delphi 5/6/7 were basically the best versions or most widely used versions of delphi, not the versions that Anders ever worked on AFAIK. Can't remember but I don't think Anders even worked there during the delphi 6/7 days. Too lazy to look up the history of it all.

But TurboPascal was indeeed a cool product. But Delphi 2/3/4, who really used those? Maybe total commander is still written in it, but most people and projects all over the net that came like wild fire were the delphi 5/6/7 projects.

Then there was the whole issue of uncommented source code... Does God not comment source? Anders wrote turbopascal in uncommented assembly... so borland had to change their ways and make delphi maintainable product, not an uncommented assembly source... But just my opinion. I might get sent to hell for criticizing GOD. People have also said that Christian Ghisler is God, which may be true. Some Russians I think said it on the total commander forums. Then there are the Emacs author must be God conspiracy theories, which I will not subscribe to. Heck, the joke is that half of these people who are claimed to be GOD are atheists/antitheists. But technically if God does not have a god above him, he really is an atheist/antitheist because he believes he has no god. Irony for you..

No really just watch the recursion in The Thirteenth Floor movie.. there may be multiple Gods which almost seems Pagan, not christian, not Jewish, and, not Islam.

But we do know if there is a god: he is a criminal, is a voyeur, and likely should be taken to court and put on trial for being a pervert with a spy cam on the universe. Possibly the CIA, or NSA, an elite club of likely mentally ill stalkers and perverts.

For the Germans out there, World On A Wire is likely a better movie than The Thirteenth Floor, but, I like both films almost equally.

(if memory serves well) Well, Delphi didn't start with a "Hello World". So that would be a little unfair as comparison. What about the time when FPC was able to compile itself?

As a theoretical physicist I'm not sure why any of this time stuff is even relevant if someone can simply go back in time and make fpc work any time they want (or delphi). With time travel, or time messaging technology someone could bring back fpc in it's full form whenever they want.

I know for a fact, for example, that Calgary was never close to the mountains and someone went back in time and put it there so you could see the mountains from calgary.

I'm not sure why when something started is even relevant..

For all we know someone injected Lisp back in time too, and it never actually existed until the 1990s and was reinjected back in time so that to make people think it's an old language.

Basically as a theoretical physicist any discussions regarding the start date of anything, is an absurd discussion

It's just a matter of who can actually do this time travel horse sh*t and whether or not it's worth having, say, a copy of FreeBSD today, back in 199x when a computer maybe only had a 66mhz processor and couldn't take advantage of the features of freebsd that are available today (or freepascal). But any idiot travelling back in time would simply bring back the technology of the cpu/computer too, such as opening up a cpu manufacturing company that is as advanced today, but bringing it back to 199x time period. Or just send a message back to some other fool in 199x and get him to do it for you, instead of travelling back yourself, as messages are easier to send back in time than physical beings.

Do remember that time travel is a criminal act though.

8. The Flying Spaghetti Monster - the only deity that is actually real. FPC's unit dependency graph is very spaghetti-like (see Florian's email in the "[fpc-other] What makes a Compiler project (like FPC) special?" thread), which is further proof that He exists! :)
