README

MouseBeam

MouseBeam is a small Windows utility that draws a crosshair through the current mouse pointer position.

This is a simple and old Delphi project of mine. The code is modest, but the tool can still be helpful for visually impaired users, users with low vision, or anyone who sometimes loses the mouse pointer on a large or busy screen.

What It Does

  • Shows horizontal and vertical guide lines that follow the mouse pointer.
  • Keeps the guide lines above normal application windows.
  • Runs quietly from the system tray.
  • Lets you turn the guide on or off from the tray menu.

Who It May Help

MouseBeam may be useful if:

  • you have a large monitor or multi-monitor setup,
  • you use high contrast or color filtering,
  • you have difficulty tracking the pointer,
  • you want a very lightweight pointer-location aid.

Building

This is a Delphi VCL project. Open src/xMouse.dproj in RAD Studio, or build from a Delphi-enabled command prompt.

Example:

powershell
msbuild src\xMouse.dproj /p:Config=Release /p:Platform=Win64

Notes

The project is intentionally small and old-fashioned. It is published as-is in the hope that it is useful, especially for accessibility-related workflows.
