De OpenIMS Community Editie is de OpenIMS versie die beschikbaar is onder de GNU General Public License v. 3.0. Dat houdt onder andere in dat de Source Code door OpenSesame ICT B.V. is vrijgegeven en dat er geen licentie-, en/of onderhoudskosten aan deze OpenIMS CE versie verbonden zijn. De andere editie van OpenIMS (de OpenIMS Enterprise Edition) is een commerciele Open Source versie.
