README

PolyPascal‑86 V3.11 for DOS and CP/M‑86

Overview

Documentation

  • Complete PDF documentation is available (in Danish).
  • For English‑language documentation, the Borland Turbo Pascal 1.0 manual should adequately describe the language.

Notes

  • The fetch.sh script was used to create the PPCPM/ (CP/M‑86) and PPDOS/ (DOS) directories.
  • It is provided for reference purposes, and it should not be necessary to run it again.

Configuration

  • If you are using a UNIX‑like system, emu2‑cpm86 (available from GitLab or GitHub) can be used to run the INSTALL.CMD and INSTALL.COM programs to configure PolyPascal‑86 for your system:

  • The PolyPascal‑86 software as provided is unmodified; see the instructions below to install the English‑language translation files.

Translation

Help text

  • PPAS.HLP.en contains the English‑language help translation appropriate for both versions.
    • For DOS, overwrite PPAS.HLP with PPAS.HLP.en.
    • For CP/M‑86, overwrite both PPASRC.HLP and PPAS.HLP with PPAS.HLP.en.

Error messages

  • PPAS.ERM.en contains the English‑language error‑message file translation appropriate for both versions.
    • For both DOS and CP/M‑86, overwrite PPAS.ERM with PPAS.ERM.en.

Translation tools

  • See the erm/ directory for information on the tools developed to facilitate the translation.

Extras

  • The PPAS_T3/ directory contains the source code for a program to convert PolyPascal‑86 programs so the UPGRADE utility shipped with Borland Turbo Pascal 4.0 for DOS can successfully process them, and a copy of the PolyPascal‑86 Turtlegraphics Package for the IBM PC.
