README

Smirf UCI

Logo

UCI interface for SMIRF chess engine. Inspired by Smirfoglot.

Usage

The repository includes scripts for playing against Smirf UCI in WinBoard or in XBoard. Indeed, with Wine, Smirf UCI works also under Linux!

Here is an example of command-line for Cutechess-cli under Linux:

pascal
-engine name="Smirf UCI" cmd="wine32" arg="SmirfUCI.exe" dir="smirf-uci-directory" proto="uci"

Smirf UCI supports only traditional chess and chess 960. If you wish to play another variant, use Smirfoglot. Smirfoglot supports all the variants that SMIRF engine can play, that is: normal, fischerandom, capablanca, gothic, caparandom.

Capablanca Random Chess is a variant invented by Reinhard Scharnagl, the author of SMIRF engine.

Command-line option

A command-line option allows to choose a log level, from 0 (no log) to 3 (very verbose):

pascal
SmirfUCI.exe --loglevel=1

The default value is 0.

Compilation

Smirf UCI is compiled with Free Pascal 32-bit.

pascal
fpc -Mobjfpc -Sh SmirfUCI.pas
