README
Synthetic MT TimeSeries (SMTTS)
This is the implementation of a synthesizing Magnetotelluric (MT) time series method based on forward modeling.
Python successor
Synthetic MT TimeSeries (SMTTS) - Python edition continues this project in Python: a lean CLI (synthts) implementing the same method (Wang et al. 2023) with built-in calibration and coherently-paired multi-site batches, writing calibrated Phoenix TS2-TS5 + TBL files from XMLSITE forward models. Active development continues there; this Delphi codebase remains the original implementation.
Method & Reference
Wang P, Chen X and Zhang Y (2023) Synthesizing magnetotelluric time series based on forward modeling. Front. Earth Sci. 11:1086749. doi: 10.3389/feart.2023.1086749

Program language
Delphi 10.3
Usage
Build the project to get the executable
Run Synthesize_MT_Timeseries.exe
Right-click under Sites to import the forward response file(obtained by forward acting, see https://github.com/EMWPJ/Modified-ModEM-with-output-electromagnetic-field-values for more). Select the sites to be synthesized.
Set synthetic time series parameters:
Average length of each segmentIntensity of the source (used for overall scaling time series intensity)Function of synthetic time series (default is random segment length and window at concatenation)The rotation Angle of the observation directionSet Observation system Parameters.
Select the output in Phoenix format or text format.
Click Generate Sites to begin the synthesis. For each site, the synthesis process takes about a few minutes.
