Hi,
I need some testers for all the different available platforms. Because, unfortunately, I do not have every available hardware/OS myself :(

I added a package called "macroscript" (in the components folder), there also is a modified (bug fixes) version of pascalscript (the original will not work).
Only SVN trunk / 1.1 snapshot revision 39418 and up

There is no need to install the package (but if the IDE does not find it, or if you used another pascalscript), then you *must* at least use "open package" and open it from the IDE.

The package has a folder "test" with a testcase. When running the interactive part, take care, of pressing the right button (2 dlg want "cancel"). And edit the text (set to "123" for 2 out of 3 dlg)

Please report your OS and CPU (including 32/64 bit) and fpc version along with test results.

Sofar I tested:
- Win Vista / Intel 32 bit / fpc 2.6.0
- Win Vista / Intel 32 bit / fpc trunk (recent, last 7 days)
- Win XP / Intel 64 bit / fpc 2.6.0
- Linux, fedora 13 / Intel 32 bit / fpc 2.6.0
- Mac OS / Intel 32 bit / fpc 2.6.0

I'll try to take a look at some of my odder systems over the weekend. I probably won't be able to test on arm-linux since my current emulation system is likely to make that infeasibly slow.

Just checked. It looks like PascalScript uses a lot of 32 bit int, to store pointers (maybe longint and cardinal do adapt in Delphi, but they do not in fpc.)

So I was just lucky my 64 bit test worked.

I will update you, once this is fixed

Doesn't build on PPC Linux (32-bit):

Then the availability of ppc linux, will depend on, if PascalScript ever adds that. :(

Ok, ARM is off the table too....

looking at the PascalScript inc, it seems set "set of()" param are not implemented. But given the errors you get before, there seem ta be more issues.

I don't know the arm calling conventions, nor PascalScript well enough.

The code only worked for darwin, unless someone added support for linux procedure call. There isn't much difference between the two (iirc).

I thought it was something like that from when I tried it a week ago, but wanted to make sure it wasn't something I could usefully do.

[Slightly later] Still appears to be Darwin-only, unless I'm doing something wrong.

I don't have Darwin and don't even know whether I could run it on my G3 PPC Mac.

I thought apple ships them with IOS or whatever they call it? Basically it needs to be compiled for the carbon widgetset.

I do not know if previous OS by apple had different calling ABI. PascalScript currently only supports (or claims to) darwin 32 bit

Show quoted text 7 lines
{$ifndef darwin} {$fatal This code is Darwin specific at the moment!} {$endif} {$ifndef cpu32} {$fatal This code is 32bit specific at the moment!} {$endif}

But it needs to be tested, if that indeed works.

e.g. there is some arm in pascalscipt. And that did not work.

Well I have no idea even what the diff is between darwin, IOS, and all the other stuff apple did....

I also can't promise that I will be able to fix any of this.

I was able to find my way through the intel 64 bit stuff in pascal script. And I would give it a try. (but I do need stuff like ABI info (and I have no indent to read dozens of pages.) It is not my idea to maintain pascal script. But I would like it to work, where I can archive it with little effort, as it is used by the EditorMacro script.

The consequence si that only people with cectain CPU/OS will be able to use pascalScript macros in the IDE.

No, you will have to compare the documents yourself. I believe linux follows the sysv abi as specified by IBM, but there may be some deviations.

When I implemented the ARM version, I only had oabi operating systems (with softfloat) and fpc didn't even have working eabi support. That has changed now, and the code will have to be modified for armhf (with vfp3) using eabi to support most of the latest arm devices. This will be a more invasive change, though

Also note that I never used classes with pascalscript, so that probably never worked. I still find this exercise a bit crazy, though, since all this knowledge is already in the compiler, which could harness it to implement an "invoke" function, which would mean that pascalscript won't need any platform specific code.

Ok, currently unlikely, that I will go that far

Would be nice.

And once that is provided by a released fpc....
But until then, I can either fix it this way. Or scrap the EditorMacroScript stuff.

My Mac's only got the proprietary Mac OS on it- in fact it might be OS 8 rather than OS 9- which doesn't have Darwin's unix-based architecture. My understanding is that this never has and never will be targeted by FPC.

I'm asking around to see if anybody's got a CD that will get me onto Darwin (AKA I believe OS X), or a reliable download source.

NO.

And I think there was a misunderstanding somewhere.

My goal was to get a subset (preferable a big subset) of EXISTING targets (targets that fpc already has) to run (run pascalscript on them).

I never intended to add new targets or something like that.

Also strictly I am only interested in targets, on which the Lazarus IDE will work.
( I have an extension to he IDE, than uses pascalscript. )

---
About Mac: I am not a MAc user, so I said, I did not know the naming of whatever runs on different MACs.

But the one I am interested, is the one, on which the IDE currently works.
