Dear all,
I saw that on menus (both on lazarus IDE and on custom applications) the underline of the alt-shortcut is not always shown. i.e. If I run Lazarus, File menu is written as File and not _F_ile. If I press alt-f the underline appears on all the menus then disappear when the menu lost the focus.
I didn't find this bug on the bugtracker, I have to sumbit a bug-report? Regards,
Andrea

You don't mention the OS / widget you are using. If it is windows, then you see the consequences of the Windows feature "Hide Underlined Letters for Keyboard Navigation Until ALT Key Is Pressed". For more information see http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/accessibility/hideunderlines.mspx

Why do you think this is a bug?

On windows this *must* be so. Open for example the most native windows application notepad. Then press Alt key and you will see accelerators. Same must be for all other controls but currently this feature is disabled and accelerators are shown always on buttons, groupboxes, checkboxes, etc.

Best regards,
Paul Ishenin.

Sorry, it's my fault.
Yes it is winXP. I didn't know about the "Hide Underlined Letters for Keyboard Navigation Until ALT Key Is Pressed" option. I use Thunderbird and Firefox and these applications are not affected by this option. Thanks.
Andrea

Maybe you should compile lazarus for gtk2 too. (I think Thunderbird and Firefox are gtk2 applications, but I may be wrong)

Now I unchecked the "Hide Underlined Letters for Keyboard Navigation Until ALT Key Is Pressed" option.
Win applications like wordpad and notepad always show the alt-shortcut while lazarus never, neither when I press alt key. Andrea

lazarus svn fpc 2.2.4

You must restart Lazarus, and ye it's a bug though I don't know how to fix it. Probably there is winapi message sent which lazarus widgetset for win does not process or process not fully.
