Hi,

Do you know why don't I get the prompt from this program?

program gtktest;
uses gtk;
begin
 writeln('Hello World!');
end;

Without "uses gtk;" it works.

By the way I think while GTK not work excatly we can't make any good GUI programs.

Bye!

Exactly what kind of a prompt are you looking for?

The above code is a simple console program that will write the words "Hello World!" to the terminal window.

Without "uses gtk;" it works.

It does work. The above example isn't using GTK or Lazarus in anyway. You are just using standard Pascal with FPC.

The LCL is OOP and needs to be coded similar to Delphi. You need to create and application, create a Form to output onto, etc. etc.

By the way I think while GTK not work excatly we can't make any good GUI programs.

Again I am not sure what you are refering to here. It does work now. Please look at the hello.pp example found in the examples directory in the Lazarus directory tree.

I'm sorry, my question would be:
Do you know why I don't get BACK the prompt from this program?

I only test the GTK unit, beacause all example porgrams (lazarus too) need a CTRL+C
to finish after closing their (all) windows (and get BACK the prompt).

I use GTK 1.2.6 (1.2.8) and fpc 1.0 (1.1) .

Bye!

When experimenting with Glade & GTK still in its native C language, it has been my experience that upon executing gtk_init() and gtk_main(), that gtk_main does not exit normally. However, if you trap the destroy event in a callback and then call gtk_main_quit(), then the prompt comes back. See http://www.gtk.org/tutorial/gtk_tut-2.html#ss2.1 :)
