Hi,

I find the interesting thread baout fpc on AIX platform:

"How hard is it to port FPC to AIX" on
http://lists.freepascal.org/lists/fpc-devel/2008-September/thread.html

(classified under the wrong thread, because they were posted  starting with a rely to another thread).

"AIX port" on
http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.comp.compilers.free-pascal.general/20253 (August 2010 but not find directly in the archive mailing for this period).

I'm not interested to use IBM XL Pascal (compiler xlp). It's not free and i don't i have the same components (rtl, fcl) that part of fpc.

At this time, i'm not find binary port on AIX. I read some documents on cross compiling but it seems difficult!! I don't understand it to do cross compilation form my IDE lazarus to linux. At this time i built from lazarus on Windows and Linux.

Do you know if there are some binary port for aix ? Do you know how build fpc on Aix platform ?
I have a cc/g++ compiler or xlc compiler on the AIX platform.

Regards,
Phoebus

There is none.

That is not possible at this time, because FPC has not been ported to AIX.

I have a cc/g++ compiler or xlc compiler on the AIX platform.

FPC is written in its own language, so you need FPC to bootstrap it. The initial version will have to be cross-compiled on another platform. However, before that can be done, FPC has to be ported to AIX.

Hi Jonas,

Thanks for your update.

Could i ask the following questions?
What is blocking / slowing the AIX port ?
Lack of realease builder, lack of testers ?
Which contribution do you need ?

It's  an egg chiken situation !!

Regards,
Frphoebus

Lack of ssh access to a machine that runs AIX, and to a lesser extent lack of someone doing it (I can do an initial port, but I'm getting overloaded regarding the number of platforms I maintain).

Hi,

Thanks for your feedback.

I understand that not an easy things. Here, i have some Aix boxes available and others disposed will be recycle (in according WEEE directive and other legislation). Internal policy is to give this to a specific firm will take this in charge and destroy all disks.
No possible to provide remote access by ssh due to IT security policy.

So i don't know, how i can help in accordance to my company policies.

Phoebus
