Dear Ladies and Gentleman.

I am trying to compile the fv example:

C:\FPC\2.0.0\examples\fv\*.pas

with the following commands:

C:\FPC\2.0.0\examples\fv\make
C:/FPC/2.0.0/bin/i386-Win32/ppc386.exe -Fu../../units/i386-win32/rtl

ive looked if the unit dir fv exists, and it does exist.

ive tried to compile a testprogram (the usual helloworld thing) which does not use any freevision tech, and it works...

now my question:

am i am doing something wrong? if so, how to do it the right way?

ps: maybe there exists a solution for creating menues for dos programs, another unit or something, that would work, id be thankful for every tip.

Sounds like a problem with your units path.

Make sure you have something like

-Fuc:\fpc\2.0.0\units\i386-win32\*

in your fpc.cfg. Note the asterisk on the end.

If this doesn't work, use compiler option -vt to get info where it is searching.

ive found the "right?" way to do it...

cd into the bin directory, and call the make process like that:

fpc ..\..\examples\fv\testapp.pas

this way it works, looks like somethings wrong with the environment setup with the default fpc 2.0.0 install under win32...

Something is wrong with your -Fu's still. It seems it uses a different fpc.cfg

The $1 references come from the original fpc.cfg, before the path is replaced by the installer with the installation path.

Are you sure you checked C:\FPC\2.0.0\bin\i386-Win32\fpc.cfg ?

Really, the fpc ..\..\.... ("trick?") from bin directory does work so far, but thats not elegant, neither it can use the makefile in the example's dir, so some further tips are highly appreciated.

This is a combination of two problems: fv/test contains a platform.inc which is newer than that which was used to compiled the drivers and the fvcommon unit.

Further, the fv units in 2.0.0 aren't compiled with -Ur so the compiler tries to recompile them because of the platform.inc.

Workaround: rename the the platform.inc in fv/test to plat.inc or something like this and change the $i directive in the test app source and build the testapp with make testapp.exe
