Hi,

What is the absolute minimum requirements for FPC to run on Linux ? Exclude libraries needed by packages (as you only need them if you use the package).

I am trying to set up an old laptop as a developement box, designed to be mobile not fast. It's main purpose will be to allow me to work on planes etc. I have a 500mb hard disk with zipslack on it. And I want to know the bare minimum packages I need to add for fpc to compile basic pascal stuff.

TIA

I think a 2.x kernel, a shell, binutils and fpc for linux. To recompile the rtl/compiler
you'll need at least gmake, fileutils and probably gcc and cpp.

You only need make and fileutils, not gcc and cpp.

Michael.

Did you test this? It might be that the makefiles use gcc to get certain parameters. (like -Fl directory).

Hi all,
Thanks for the feedback.
I now have it running perfectly on zipslack, all I needed to add was binutils, though I also added a bunch of other stuff like tcl/tk (for my PTK work) etc.

Ciao
