Hi,

This is a test message. In the latest 48h I have picked no less than 6 messages of messages with possible viruses that had been removed by some mail agent.
With this message I want to test that I still can send to the list, and second, please can someone reply, to see if you are reding this and my subscription to the mailing list is ok?

Thanks!
Aitor

I got 14 msgs (from fpc-devel and fpc-pascal). And some msgs have parts the old attachments already in (looking at the source).

I am getting the same messages.

That I've replied should tell you something. :-)

Let's hope that everyone using a mail agent capable of distributing virus-ridden messages uses these public notifications as a reminder to verify that their anti-virus software is up-to-date and remains so. If not they need to take the hint. :-| Or perhaps they should write AV software in FPC; well I had to get it back on track for the list. :-)

Regards, Trevor

The mailing list is ok, but the /absolutok.net
aren't and keep sending this garbage. Anything coming from there should be blocked now.

Is it something, that accidently comes in, or is it really meant to attack especially this lists?

Accidentally, but braindead antivirus-software writers are to blame.

A virus uses random emails (as sender address) to send email. So some infected computers may send an email as "fpc-pascal".

At the receiver of the email, the antivirus detects the virus, and then sends back a message to the "sender" email, without checking if the IP of the sender is in the same domain as the last part of the email.

So the virusses never were in the list (the ones we saw were probably different ones), but the antivirus spams the list anyways.

And from Friday till now they sent another 20 or so of those messages. None made it to the list and I made sure they got all their messages bounced back to them <g> I hope they will stop now.
