Hello,
People that have installed FPC 1.0.6 using an RPM from our download site or one of the mirrors, should check their installation. There has been an error when generating the RPMs due to some misconfiguration of the RPM build system.
People that use debian packages or the .tar distribution should have nothing to worry about.
How to detect whether the problem affects you ?
If the command 'ppc386 -i' gives the following first line of output:
----------------------------------------------------------------------- Free Pascal Compiler version 1.0.6-beta
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Then the RPM you used has the error.
A new RPM has been generated and installed on the ftp server. After uninstalling the old one and installing the new one, the output of the compiler command 'ppc386 -i' should be:
----------------------------------------------------------------------- Free Pascal Compiler version 1.0.6
Compiler Date : 2002/05/23
Compiler Target: i386
This program comes under the GNU General Public Licence For more information read COPYING.FPC
Report bugs, suggestions etc to:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Note the compiler date of may 5, 2002.
Especially for people developing lazarus:
- The fix for bug 1888 should definitely be included in this version. (it's in the sources, at least)
- The ssTriple,ssQuad identifiers are also present in the classes unit sources.
With my apologies for the inconvenience.
Michael.
