Hi,

I hope that question on the fpc ide are allowed here.

I have the problem that the ide looks very bad under X (xterm and kde's konsole). The border lines aren't made using the graphical lines from the ascii charset. In a normal linux konsole it looks as expected.

Anyone an idea where to look to get a correct appearance of the ide.

Another option (documented in the manual) is to add the commmand-line -F to the ide:

fp -F

This will use alternate characters. I always use that. Note that most f the the alt-key keycombinations work in konsole, but not in xterm.

Michael.

Run it under windows 3.11. -- It runs just fine.

Why people tolerate so many of these kinds of problems with leenooks and still call it superior is beyond comprehension.

I went ahead and put FPC on my 486 and it runs perfectly.

It feels good to be home on my 486. http://users.rcn.com/alangrimes/

How can you run a Linux program under Windows???

Why people tolerate so many of these kinds of problems with leenooks and still call it superior is beyond comprehension.

Because it's not a problem with Linux, but with the port of the program. When you try to port Linux programs to windows, you mostly also have a lot of problems!

I went ahead and put FPC on my 486 and it runs perfectly.

I also have Linux on my old 486.

Sure.

xterm -bdc -rv -fn vga -fb vga -e ./fp -T`tty`

I honestly don't knoàw whar all the options exactly d, but they turn the xterm almot is a dos window regarding appearance and key recognition. You will need the cga font to make it work though.

Perfect, it works nice now.

What's the -T`tty` for? Because it's behind the -e Option it is passed tp fp. Is there a list of all options for fp, fp -h or --help does not give a help screen.

Indeed. It tells fp to send the output of the debugged program to the tty from which you started fp (since fp itself is openen in a new tty). This is handy because then you don't have to switch back an forth between the ide and the output of that program all the time.

You can also access this option in the debug settings.

No, there isn't one yet. I don't know all the options either. Pierre, could you give a list so that Michael can add it to the docs?

The docs already contain a list of options. I added the -T because that one was new for me.

Michael.

Which doc? I could not find such a doc file in the idelinux-nogdb.tar.gz I downloaded from the FreePascal-Homepage.

The user's manual, this is a part of the 'normal' documentation.

Michael.
