Hi,
I'm using windows M.E. and downloaded freepascal w32104full.zip and dosw32104full.zip and have unzipped them using winzip and installed them on the hard drive but the program doesn't appear in the start menu and there isnt a short cut on the desk top,do I need to download anything else to run the program?I have also downloaded the free pascal editor this appears in the start menu and runs.
Any info would be gratefully appreciated,thanks...Mark

This editor uses FPC as the underlying compiler, so you don't have to start it separately. FPC is a command line program, but it seems you are not very experienced with the command line, so I would advise against using it that way. You can either use the editor you downloaded, or try Bloodshed Dev Pascal (which also uses FPC as internal compiler) from <http://www.bloodshed.net/devpascal.html>

I already posted the following reply, didn't you get it? Are you subscribed to the mailing list?

If you are using the Dos version, try the windows version instead, since Dos compatibility gets worse with every new version of windows. If you are using the windows version, try a snapshot, which is available from <http://www.zeus.rug.ac.be/freepascal/develop.html#snapshotsv10>

Hi,

how can i get the mouse to work in freepascal when windowed in win2k? it works in winnt and win98...

Did you try to turn off quick-edit mode in the shell options ? Then Windows2k/NT doesn't grab control of mouse movements (because actually it has to to provide the quick-edit functionality).
The difference between NT4 and 2k+ is that it's turned on by default on the second while this is not the case on the first (iirc).

Regards,
Thomas

turning off quick-edit mode does not help, however, i played around, and checking "discard old duplicates" under the options tab of the shortcut properties worked. thanks for the help - because of you i decided to tweak a bit more.

Please try to download the latest win32 IDE snapshot, the mouse should work again now for win2000!

Just a word to precise, only the v1.0.5 snapshot
is corrected for win2000 mouse problem,
the patch is not yet merged inot the main branch.

Thus, fi you want to test, you need to download the /snapshot/v10/win32/idew32.zip
from one of the freepascal related ftp servers.

i got it to work with the version i have... in win2k - if you turn of quickedit mode on the shortcut it works. discard old duplicates was my mistake, i was confused between my NT and win2k machines. heh.

i am currently using 0.9.1 from 2001/01/14.

ron wilson.
