Fatal: Can't find unit SYSWIN32

Thomas Kurz

Hi,
I just installed FPC v1.04 full on Win32 (WinNT4SP6a german).

After installing it I was unable to compile the same programs I already did before. :-(
I always get the Error message:
Fatal: Can't find unit SYSWIN32

Compiling works from the command line, but all Editors refuse to compile (FP from v1.04, Free Pascal Editor v1.35, FreePascal IDE)

I thought the reason could be that I installed v1.04 over v1.02 with some snapshots, but also a new installation in a different directory doesn't solve the problem.

Can anybody help me please?
Do I have to change some directory settings somewhere? What went wrong?

Thanks, Thomas

The installer, either download a new install.exe from ftp://ftp.freepascal.org or set the target in the IDE manually to win32 (Compile|Target).

I set the IDE manually to win32, otherwise the unit it can't find wouild be "system" or something else!
I also tried to set some unit, object and include directories according to the manuals, but... no way :-(

is there a bug in the installer? i can remeber the announcement that the 1.0.4 release will automatically set the target to win32, but it doesn't! But this is not my problem!

thx, Thomas

I downloaded and installed the dos and w32 full version (dosw32104full.zip or something like that) and there all is ok (until now :-) )... I first had similar problems but I saw that in the IDE Go32V1 was set --> changing it to Go32V2 or Win32 --> everything's fine.

Did you install the win32 run time library too? Does the command line compiler work?

the command line compiler works, as I already said! only ALL IDE versions fail to compile!

what do you mean? I installled the win32full package, so the win32 RTL is installed in a compled and the source version!
I really don't know what to do :-(
command line works, but all IDEs fail to compile.

thx, Thomas

Hmmm, can you please send me your fp.cfg (in a private email to avoid unecessary mail traffic)?

That's rather strange, I tried to install the win32full package on a "virgin" machine and I'd no problems (despite the wrong target which should be corrected now).
